How to create a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) without going bankrupt trying: Guide and Examples in Peru

From idea to execution: The path of the MVP

Understand what is a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) It's easy; executing it correctly is the real challenge. Many entrepreneurs in Peru and Latin America confuse an MVP with "launching an ugly prototype", which scares away early adopters. The key is the balance between functionality and launch speed.

Step 1: Identify the painful problem (Pain Point)

People don't buy software, they buy solutions to real, painful problems. Your MVP should address a pain so bad that the customer is willing to use a basic solution to get relief. For example, in Peru, documentary bureaucracy is an immense pain; software that automates contracts attacks an open wound.

Step 2: Define the "North Star Metric"

Before writing a line of code, you must define how you will measure success. If you launch a niche E-commerce, your metric should not be "how many likes I have on Facebook", but rather "how many people complete a paid order". The MVP should be built exclusively to improve that specific metric.

Types of MVPs you can launch TODAY

You don't always need to program from scratch to validate your idea. There are proven techniques to test the market:

  • The MVP "Concierge" (Concierge): You simulate the automation of the software by doing the work manually in a personalized way. If you want to create a financial planning AI, first offer to give manual financial advice on WhatsApp to 10 people. If no one pays you for your manual consulting, no one will pay for the software.
  • The "Wizard of Oz" MVP: The interface (the website) looks professional and automated to the user, but "behind the curtain" there are humans doing the hard work manually and by hand to ensure traction.
  • The Landing Page MVP: Create a High Converting Website selling the product as if it already existed. You place a "Buy" or "Subscribe" button. When the user clicks, you show them a message: "We are fine-tuning the final details. Leave us your email and we will give you a 50% discount on the official launch." If no one leaves their email, the idea is useless.

Software Development as MVP

Once interest has been validated, it is time to schedule. This is where you should use modern and light architectures. Instead of giant monolithic systems, at our agency we use technologies such as React, Next.js and scalable Cloud Databases. This allows us to launch a 100% functional, fast and scalable application in weeks, not years.

The Peruvian market is fast and demanding. Release your MVP, collect feedback from real customers, improve the code and release again. That's the virtuous cycle of modern software development.
